Sandra Wilson

Sandra S. Wilson, 73, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 5 till 7 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, February 25, 2011 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 South Pioneer Drive.
Sandra was born July 10, 1937 in Midland, TX to Hyson Wylie and Katie Thelma Smith. She graduated from Midland High School and attended Texas Womens University in Denton, TX. She met and married Robert Wilson in 1958 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage together. They moved to Abilene in 1968 and she began working at Mackeys before beginning her career of more than20 years with the Abilene Independent School District as an interpreter for the hearing impaired. She was a lifetime member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending her time painting, doing calligraphy, cooking for her family, and she loved to travel and see new places.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to Abilene Regional Day School Program for the Deaf, 241 Pine Street, Abilene, TX 79601.
