Santiago Jimmy Mendez, 70, long time resident of Tye passed away in Abilene on Friday, August 30, 2013. Visitation will be 6 till 7 PM, Tuesday, September 3, 2013 with reciting of Rosary beginning at 7 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Jimmy was born in Sonora, Texas on February 23, 1943 to Juan and Manuela Mendez from Sonora, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Clemencia son, Jimmy Mendez of Abilene daughters, Elsa and Adam Merket of Midland, Delma and Joe Reyna of Tye, JoAnn Aldrete of Mesquite, Jamie and Nellie Mendez of Midland, Jennifer and David Guevara of San Antonio, and Jessica Mendez of Tye sixteen grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
