Santos Valadez

Santos R. Valadez, 85, died Monday, January 17, 2011 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 21st in the Garden of Ten Commandments at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Santos was born in Del Rio, Texas on August 4, 1925 the son of Roman Valadez and Tomasa Rodriguez. He has lived in Abilene since the early 1950s where he worked many years on the Stevens Ranch and later was a selfemployed carpet layer often contracted out through Crown Distributors and Callaway Carpets both of Abilene and John Frees Carpets in Sweetwater.

Survivors include his children, Santos Valadez Jr. of Abilene, Melissa Lawrence and husband Doug of Fort Worth, John Herrera and wife Susan of Lipan, Mary Swaggerty and Anthony Burrola both of Abilene one sister, Paulita Perez of Abilene 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

His parents and his wife, Mary I. Valadez preceded him in death.
