Sarah Katherine Wooten Roller passed away peacefully on March 31, 2016 in Georgetown, Texas. Sarah was born on January 13, 1927 in Abilene, Texas to Horace Wesley and Minnie Nicolds Wooten, joining older brother "Sonny" (Horace Hollis Wooten). After her birth she lived with her family in Crystal City and later moved to Abilene where Horace began working at H.O. Wooten Grocery Company, a wholesale grocery business started by his father, Horace Oliver Wooten. After an extended illness, Sarah's only brother died in 1938. During her high school years, she attended Hockaday School for Girls in Dallas, Texas from 1941 to 1944.
In 1947, Sarah married her first husband, Donald Dewey McCaskey, and later gave birth to Kenneth Wooten McCaskey. She was overjoyed with her newborn son and being a mom.
On March 24, 1950, Sarah married Roy Cleveland Brunhart, an Air Force officer. During their 20-year marriage, Sarah gave birth to four daughters: Katherine Ann, Carolyn Lee, Patricia Lynn, and Leslie Jean. Sarah enjoyed the life of a military officer's wife as they were stationed in several countries: Japan, Luxemburg, and Germany. They were also stationed in several U.S. states, including Texas, Alabama, and Massachusetts.
In later years, Sarah welcomed the love of her life, Quincy Adams Roller. Sarah and Quinn were happily married for 24 years. Quinn was her rock. Together, they shared many wonderful years whether in sickness or health.
Sarah loved artistic endeavors including painting in oils and watercolor. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and listening to musicals and big band music. Sarah's enjoyment of life and caring for people touched the lives of all who came to know her. Her faith guided her steps and was nurtured in the Episcopal Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Quinn, her five children and their spouses: Kenneth McCaskey (Mary), Katherine Robertson (Rex), Carolyn Anderson (Ryan), Patricia Tighe (Steven), and Leslie Anderson. Also left to cherish her memory are adult step-children and their spouses, Martin Roller (Laura), Steven Roller (Gail), and Jeffrey Roller (Stephanie). She leaves behind nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and six step-grandchildren. Kimberly Brown (Anthony), her loving caregiver, also mourns her loss and cherishes her memory.
Sarah will be buried in Abilene, Texas at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 5, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, April 6, at 10:00 am. Sarah will be laid to rest beside her father, mother, step-mother (Flora), and older brother.
