Sgt Christopher David Loza, 24, of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 10, 2009 with his wife Kristena at his bedside at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C..

Chris was born on August 11,1984 to Amelia Nava and Martin Loza. He was a native of Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 2002. After graduation, he pursued a career at Howard College and received a degree in Criminal Justice on May 12, 2006. While in college he met his wife Kristena Torres and in 2005 they became the proud parents of their beautiful daughter Iliana Alyse Loza. Chris was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church most of his life. He can best be remembered as a person who stood up for what he believed no matter what it was about.

Chris is survived by his wife Kristena Loza and daughter Iliana Loza of San Angelo; his parents, Amelia Eugene Gonzales and Katherine Martin Loza all of Abilene; his maternal grandmother, Dominga Fernandez of Ballinger; his paternal grandmother, Hilaria 'Lala' Loza of Abilene; sister, Erica Loza neice, Aubriella Loza; half sister, Margarita Flores and children Joseph, Jacelle, Joselyn, and Jalicia Flores all of Abilene and half brother, Anthony Paul Loza of Missouri. Chris has numerous aunts, uncles and friends. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Debra DeHoyos and father-in-law Paul Torres both of San Angelo; brothers-in-law, Erik Torres and Victor Duarte and grandmother-in-law, Elisa DeHoyos all of San Angelo.

Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, C.J.Cuyo Loza, of Abilene; his maternal grandfather, Clemente Castro Nava of Rising Star; his maternal great grandparents, Sebstian Inosente Fernandez of San Angelo; his aunt, Virginia Gina Loza of Abilene; uncle, Clemente Nava Jr. of Ballinger and his great aunt, Mary Fernandez of San Angelo.

The family will be located at 1158 Marshall Street.

Services will include visitation on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a rosary on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. both at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, April 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 837 Jeanette St., Abilene, TX 79602.
