Sharon Godsey

Sharon Lea Godsey, beloved Mother of Christopher Lynn Hatcher and Leslie Renee Nielsen, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at a local hospital in Abilene. She was 56 years old.

Funeral service will be at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South on Saturday, April 17th at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Black of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 16th from 6:00 8:00 p.m. There will be no graveside service.

Sharon was born the daughter of Clifton Alvin and Betty Lou Coe on October 20, 1953 at Hendrick Memorial Hospital in Abilene. She had a passion for writing poetry, and was a lifelong lover of animals and butterflies. She adored all things purple, and adored her four grandchildren even more. Her relationship with Jesus Christ, and the intimacy of that relationship often described in her poetry, was the defining accomplishment of her life.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Betty Coe.

She is survived by her son, Chris Hatcher and his wife, Cindy her daughter, Leslie Nielsen and her husband, Justin four grandchildren, Catelyn and Tyler Hatcher, Alissa Godsey, and Natalee Nielsen and husband, John Godsey.
