Shirley Davila

Shirley Frances Davila left this life peacefully on January 21, 2024 in Abilene, Texas, to be rejoined with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at the age of 83. Her family was gathered at her side with prayers and heartfelt sentiments. Shirley was born on November 19, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was a resident of Abilene for the past 54 years.

 She loved life, always keeping God first, then her family. She lended a hand to anyone who was in need. She loved being involved with family and friend’s activities, attending her church, crocheting many beautiful throws for so many loved ones, and reading, eager to share her books with others.

 Shirley met her husband of 67 years, Noe Davila, an airman, at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth.   She was immediately swept off her feet and became a military wife. During the 20 years her husband was in the Air Force, they were stationed in Spain, throughout the US, and Japan.   Shirley was active with the military community and became fast friends with many they came to know and love. Their last station, after Dyess AFB, was supporting Noe as a high school and University instructor for more than 28 years in Abilene, TX. Shirley was the bravest of women, caring, a loving wife, self-assured, and firmly-spoken.

 Shirley is survived by her children Kalena Aldridge, Stephen Davila, Christopher Davila; 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great-grandchildren, and 3 nieces and nephews; sister, Sue Kimbrough, and brother, Tommy Brown.

 She is preceded in death by her husband Noe Davila; daughter, Theresa Lerving and son, Kerry Phillips; parents, Hugh and Vera Brown.
