Shirley Stearns

Shirley Jeaneen Stearns, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2024. A visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Elmwood Funeral Home 5750 Hwy 277 South. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 6, 2024 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco, Texas with Rev. Matt Holdahl officiating.

She was born on July 4, 1935, in Cisco, Texas, to VF and Eula Sugg. In 1950, her family moved to Abilene, Texas, where she attended Abilene High School. It was in Abilene that Shirley met the love of her life, Charlie Stearns. The two were married in 1957, beginning a lifelong journey together filled with love and devotion.

Shirley was a dedicated member of the Trinity Nazarene Church in Abilene and later attended New Life Baptist Church in Wabash, Indiana. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, second only to her love for her family.

A proper and meticulous homemaker, Shirley took great pride in maintaining a warm and welcoming home. Her family meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was known for her unwavering love and support as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Shirley's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to her family and home will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Stearns; her parents, VF and Eula Sugg; two brothers, JC Suggs, and Donald Sugg; and one sister, JoAnn Hoover.

Shirley is survived by her children, Frank Stearns and wife Brejellee, Jerry Stearns and wife D’Ann, and Carolyn Johnston and husband Scott; her grandchildren, Tiffany Holdahl and husband Matt, Frank Stearns Jr., Kimberly Vaughan and husband Stewart, Bryce Johnston and wife Ashley, Johnathan Stearns, and Sarah Blackwelder and husband Andrew; her great grandchildren, Bradyn Holdahl, Charley Holdahl, and Abram Holdahl; siblings, Glen Sugg and wife Tonie, Linda Price and husband David, Margie Bruce, and Clifton Sugg; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
