Spencer Brian LaBrie, 19, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 27th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 28th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap Rd.
Spencer was born on January 13, 1993 at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan. He graduated from Wylie High School in 2011 where he was an outstanding student and athlete excelling in both baseball and basketball. After high school, he received a baseball scholarship to Lubbock Christian University where he attended for one year. He was currently majoring in Math at Texas Tech University on a full academic scholarship. Spencer was an ROTC Cadet and was a member of the Arnold Air Society an organization whose mission is to build strong officers for the United States Air Force. After college Spencers plans were to serve his country as a pilot in the Air Force.
Spencer was a very determined, motivated and goal oriented young man. He could talk to anyone and had many friends both young and old. He always brought out the best in people and cared about everyone, no matter whom they were, he was there to extend a hand or make someone smile. He loved his family deeply and was especially close to his brother Adam. Spencers positive influence will continue to live on through the many people who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his parents, Greg and Jennifer LaBrie of Abilene his brother, Adam LaBrie of Anchorage, Alaska his grandparents, Trudy Hughes of Abilene and Maurice and Camille LaBrie of Brockport, New York his aunt, Kim Hervey and husband Tracy of Tucson, Arizona uncles, Art Hughes and wife Trudy of Satellite Beach, Florida and Jeff LaBrie of Camden, New York cousins, Stephanie and Allison Hervey and Troy Hughes.
His grandfather, Arthur Hughes preceded him in death.
