Ssang Sun Harper, 73, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 30th at the International Baptist Church, 602 Palm Street. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Ssang was born in Korea on December 15, 1937 the daughter of Chong Ok Chong and OK Hui Pak. She married Ronald Harper in Korea on June 14, 1976 and came to the United States shortly after. She worked in the dining hall at Dyess Air Force Base for over 30 years and was known as Mom by many. She was a member of International Baptist Church formerly known as Abilene Korean Church for over 30 years where she served as a Deacon and was faithful to cook many delicious dishes for the monthly potlucks and to provide beautiful flower arrangements for Sunday services or for special occasions. On December 1, 2005, Ssang became an American Citizen which was one the proudest days of her life.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Ronald Harper of Abilene her daughter, Sung Hui Johnson of Big Spring and 5 sisters and 2 brothers all of Korea.

Her parents preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, PO Box 1922, Abilene, Texas 79604.
