Vivian Windell, 81, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Abilene. A private family service is planned with Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. Entombment will be in Elmwood Memorial Park
Stella Vivian Kerr was born on January 14, 1929 in Gunter, Texas, the daughter of James Thomas Kerr and Eva Mae Belt Kerr. She married Ralph Eugene Windell on February 5, 1946 in Ft. Worth. As Ralph made a career with the United States Air Force they lived many places. After his retirement, their adventures continued as they enjoyed traveling to many places including Europe, China, Russia, seeing the Polar Bears in the Arctic and meeting their goal of Volksmarching in all 50 states. Vivian was not a fan of islands but in order to add Hawaii to her Volksmarching list, for their 50th wedding anniversary they flew to Hawaii went for a Volksmarching event then got on the plane and came home.
Vivian has lived in Abilene for the past 21 years where she attends Highland Church of Christ. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Ralph Windell of Abilene her children, Rodney Earl Windell and wife Colleen and Patti Bull and husband Johnny all of Abilene her grandchildren, Robert Eugene Windell and wife Christian of Peoria, Illinois, Karisa Renee Bailey and husband Paul of Gravelbourg, Szechuan, Canada, Amy Boyd of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, John Charles Bull and wife Jennifer of Lillington, North Carolina and Tabitha Marshall and husband Scott of Austin Great Grandchildren, Riley, Catilyn and Brodie Windell, Wesley, Ethan, Julia and Levi Bailey, Kaija Windell and Elizabeth and Jonathan Bull.
Her grandson, Brian Windell preceded her in death.
