Sylvia was born July 5, 1954 in Galveston,Texas to Jessie and Petra Valdez. She was happily married to Juan Gamez and they spent 18 wonderful years together. Sylvia was a beautiful person inside and out. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Even though she wasn't able to attend church weekly due to her illness, she would watch her Christian programs and read her bible. She was the sweetest, most loving person, who would do anything for you. She was always giving and never expected anything in return. To know her was to love her. Her sense of humor was infectious. She loved making people laugh, but comforted you when you were sad. She had a love for shopping for deals and going out to eat. You would always find her cruising the town with Aunt Ester, Aunt Mary, Lisa, and dear friend Alice. She was the #1 baseball/softball fan for her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching them play and spending time with them. She loved sports, but one thing we knew for sure, was that she was not a Tomo Romo fan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Petra and Jessie Valdez; sister, Mary Flores; and her brother, David Valdez.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, Juan Gamez; son, Mark Valdez and wife Ashley; and Honorary daughter, Valerie Moreno and husband John of Mansfield, Tx; grandchildren,Nathaniel Valdez, Mateo Valdez, Madison Valdez, Ethan Need, Riley Need, Audrie Perez, and Alex Perez; Honorary grandchildren, John David Moreno and Gabriel Moreno; Brother, Robert Valdez of Abilene; Sister, Lydia Garza and husband Amos of Ft. Worth, Tx; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
