Thomas Bohannon

Thomas Edwin Bohannon passed peacefully from this life September 14, 2012. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 17,2012 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277S, Abilene, TX. Visitation will be Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Ed was born July 25, 1917 at Brown Ranch in Coleman County, Texas to Joseph and Mildred Bohannon. Five brothers, Raymond, Ernest, Travis, Durwood, and Delbert Bohannon and one sister, Lurline Kemp, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy three daughters, Linda Mike Yarbrough of Weatherford, TX, Carolyn Jim Smith and Sandra Burks both of Abilene, TX granddaughters Roxy McGregor, Tracey Podsednik, Carla Schosker, Amy Kirkpatrick, and Shanna Parvin grandsons Coye Underwood and Ricky Burks. Ed is also survived by fifteen greatgrandchildren Monica, Leslie, Mandy, Rachel, Sara, Danielle, Joshua, Elizabeth, John, James, Kaden, Connor, Lorelai, Kaitlyn, Perrin, and Hannah due to be born in November. Three greatgreat grandsons, Troy, Colt, and Max and one greatgreat granddaughter, Vivian, also survive him. Several nieces and nephews also survive Ed including a very special nephew, Glen Bohannon, whose love and devotion to Ed and his family cannot be measured.
Ed married Dorothy Hubbard June 21, 1941 in Coleman, TX and was very proud to have served his country during World War II in the 132nd Field Artillery Battalion, Battery C, 36th Division. He served 4 years in the Fighting 36th with twentysix months of them overseas and twenty months in combat. Ed saw action in North Africa, Italy, and Austria. After the war he owned and operated a laundry on Grape Street and later owned and operated Bohannon Gulf on South 1st Street for twenty years. After retirement he delivered cars for several dealerships in Abilene. Ed lived a long and productive life and will be greatly missed. At ease, Paw Paw, your tour is over.
