Thomas Heiser

Thomas David Heiser, 65, died peacefully after battling cancer on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at a local hospital surrounded by his family.

A funeral service at Elmwood Funeral Home, with Pastor Oran Rake officiating, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 22, 2019. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Dress is casual. There will be a visitation Thursday, November 21, 2019, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Elmwood Funeral Home. All arrangements are under the direction of Elmwood Funereal Home, 5750 Highway 277 South.

David was born July 12, 1954, in Coleman, Texas to Thomas Bud and Carol Day Heiser. David lived in a few towns throughout west Texas while growing up but eventually graduated from Cooper High School. On August 9, 1975, David married Lynn Owens, and they made their home in Abilene. David was a dedicated newspaper carrier for over 35 years for the Abilene Reporter News (recently retired) and was a metal worker most of his life with his last 10 years at Tiger Manufacturing. David was a loving husband and father of his 3 sons. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and one-armed bandits (he was a constant supporter of the gambling industry, but we didn’t let him go crazy with it). After the passing of his wife, 3 and a half years ago, David took up traveling with his children and got to see places he had never been while getting closer to his children, grandchildren and great grandchild.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Owens Heiser; his mother, Carol Marlene Mitchell; his father, Thomas Bud Heiser; and his brother, Tony Heiser.

Survivors include his three sons: Adam and wife Melissa Heiser of Abilene, Nicholas Heiser of Dallas, Scott Heiser and husband Scott Chambers of Seattle, Washington; three grandsons: Michael, Alec and Brandon; one great grandchild, Aurora; and 2 sisters: Teresa Adams and Tracie Galle.
