Timothy Howard passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2020 in Dayton, Nevada.
A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow with Military honors at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
Tim was born on February 9, 1956 in Fort Worth, Texas to Ralph and Ola (Wyant) Howard. Tim and his four siblings lived in various locations until their father was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas in 1964. Tim graduated Abilene High School in 1975. After graduation he enlisted in U.S. Navy as an Avionics Electronics Technician. He spent his first enlistment aboard the U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Tim met his future wife, Viola while stationed at NAS Dallas and they were married in May of 1981. Tim retired from the navy in 1996 after serving 20 years. Tim moved his family to Carson City, Nevada to start a second career as a correctional officer in the state prison system, retiring in November 2018.
In his off time, Tim attended Western Nevada Community College receiving a B.A. in science in 2001. He loved to read and collect books. He also enjoyed watching T.V., especially the “The Dallas Cowboys”. life-long passions were running for fitness and a love for animals, especially dogs and cats.
Tim is survived by his wife of 39 years, Viola Howard; son, Thomas Howard; daughter, Christina Howard; grandson, Kaleb Nix, sisters, Ginger Logan, and Mary Howard; brothers, Kerry and Kevin Howard; six nephews; four nieces; mother in-law and sister in-law.
