Tomas Martinez Jr., 56, passed away on August 3, 2010 in Abilene. His funeral service with Jerry McNeill officiating will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 in the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Friday, August 6, 2010 at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Tomas was born on May 11, 1954, in Monterey, NL, Mexico. He lived in Mexico until age 20, when he moved to Memphis, TX. It was there he met his loving wife Marlen and they were married on October 4, 1976. Tomas has been a resident of Abilene for over 20 years where he worked in the oilfield for both Bandera and Sojourners. He loved to play the Lottery and was even referred to by some as the Lotto Man.
Tomas is survived by his wife, Marlen his four children, Beronica Gregory and husband Glen of Haltom City, Olga Martinez and husband Carlos Romero Jr, Tomas Martinez III and Marlen Martinez all of Abilene his mother, Olga Martinez of Monterey, Mexico 9 grandchildren, Joseph and Alex Gregory, Priscilla, Christina, Carlos Romero III, and Christian Romero, Michael Anthony, Julian, and Nicolas Martinez five sisters, Rosalinda Martinez, Leticia Martinez, Maria De Los Angeles Martinez, Blanca Roel, and Aurora Roel one brother, Raul Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.
