Tomasita Gutierrez, age 69, of Abilene, Texas, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2009, after battling cancer for almost 2 years. The family will have visitors for a viewing from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m, on Friday, December 4, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m following the viewing. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Robert Bush, officiating. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Grace
Tomasita was a blessing to all who had the honor of knowing her. She was loved by all of her family and was an amazingly strong woman who always strived to keep everyone positive and secure. Tomasita was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Anson, TX. For 16 years she was employed at Northern Oaks Nursing Home where she showed her heart to all of the residents and staff.
Tomasita loved cooking for her family and having everyone over to share a meal and fellowship with each other. She loved all animals especially her one and only parrot Pakeeto who kept her spirits going.
Tomasita is preceded in death by her parents, Jullian and Fransica DeLcruz-Lomas, brother, Agapito Lomas.
She is survived by her brothers, Eugene Lomas, Francisco Lomas, Juan Lomas; her sisters, Yolanda Lomas, Julia Reyes, Rita Lomas, Josephina Limones.
She is survived by her sons, Pete De Leon, Frank De Leon, Joe De Leon, and Robert Gutierrez; her daughter in laws, Alma, Angela, Susie, and Elva; her daughters, Carolina De Leon, Silvia De Leon, Anna De Leon, and Maria Gutierrez.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Vicky De Leon, Leslie De Leon, Corina De Leon, Josh Trevino, Vanessa De Leon, Landon Jumper, Austin Jumper, Jessica De Leon, Angel Ortiz, Andrew De Leon, Desiree De Leon, Brianna De Leon, Mariah De Leon, Vanessa Martinez, Cristian Gutierrez, and Evieana Guiterrez, along with eleven great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Hospice staff at Hendricks hospital during our Mothers final days. Thanks for being so amazingly caring and understanding to our family especially during the moments of the Holiday season.
