Tonya Lea Kaerwer, of Abilene went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 19, 2021 in Abilene at the age of 65.
Tonya was born on December 8, 1955 in Abilene, Texas to the late Frank McCombs and Mary Pope McCombs. Tonya was born with a condition in her feet that required correction at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital where she permanently lived for the first years of her life. Tonya and her sister, Lynda Pattillo, were able to later enjoy several years of dance thanks to the efforts of the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital. Tonya graduated from Abilene High in 1974 and married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Kaerwer on December 14, 1974. The couple have spent their lives in Abilene Raising their 3 girls and loving on their 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.Tonya devoted her life to the Lord and was a faithful prayer warrior. She enjoyed playing 42, team bowling, fishing with Floyd and the kids, traveling to the mountains, and keeping a variety of pets. Tonya took great pleasure in time spent with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was a very giving person, known to literally give the coat off her sister’s back to help someone. Tonya always put others before herself; she did great deeds for so many people in her short life. Her gentle smile brought so much joy to our family; she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Tonya is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Floyd Kaerwer; children, Robbie McGuire (Michael), Mandy Johnson (Max), Kristy Martin (Christopher); grandchildren, Brennon McGuire, Ryan Kaerwer, Chloe Johnson, Adison Martin, Kylie Martin, Tyson Martin; great grandchild, Aleia Kaerwer; sister, Lynda Pattillo (Bobby); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Tonya was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Tina Marie McCombs and a brother, Rob Ray McCombs.
A graveside service will be held Monday, January 25, 2021 at 11 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects. The family respectfully asks due to circumstances that you please remain in your vehicle for the service. The service will be broadcast over 105.7 FM so you may listen from your car. The immediate family will be graveside.
