Truman Ray Loden, 84, passed away Friday morning April 13, 2012 in a Waco Hospital. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, with burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 PM until service time.
He was born to Benjamin Franklin and Birdie Ellen Diver Loden on April 10, 1928, according to the U.S Army, but his mother maintained he was born on the 11th. She said she should know because she was there. He was born and grew up in South Waco. He graduated from Waco High School where he played 1st trombone in an outstanding band. Upon graduation he went directly into the Army and spent 18 months with the Occupational forces in Japan.
Truman married Jeanette Dowdy on April 2, 1949 and they had three beautiful daughters. October 1, 1977 Truman married Ozella Buck from Lubbock, TX. They were married for 32 years. They enjoyed traveling and being with their families. Truman worked for the U.S Government as a Quality Control Inspector and retired while living in Potosi, near Abilene. The two were very happy and enjoyed a good life until Ozella passed away June 1, 2009. Truman chose to move to China Spring to be near his two daughters and other close family members. He was a member of First Baptist Church of China Spring.
Preceded in death were his parents, wife Ozella, sister, Winnell McMinn, brothers, B.F. and Ralph, and his beautiful daughter Paula Cawthon.
Those surviving are his two daughters Jana Kelley and husband Gene, Laura Lambert and husband Chuck, sonin law, Ronnie Cawthon brother Billy Loden three stepsons, Gary Buck, Donnie and wife Diana, Richard and wife Leanne grandchildren Ginger, Clark, Autumn, Ben, Brad, Leah, Brianna, Chelsea, Zack, Shane, Cory, Dusty 15 greatgrandchildren special nieces, nephews and cousins.
