Vada Zimmermn

Vada Marie Zimmerman, 89, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in Ft. Worth. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, September 6, 2013 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South with Reverend Mike Woodard officiating. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Vada was born April 22, 1924 in Anson, TX to parents, Arnold and Mary Mingus Burleson. She grew up in Anson, TX and on October, 30, 1941 married D.H. Zimmerman. They lived in Lamesa, TX before relocating to Abilene after the war. She worked at Skybells Dress Shop in downtown Abilene and Abilene Womans Club. She was a very active member of Southwest Park Baptist Church.
She loved raising her daughter and enjoyed being with all her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very active and enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping, and fishing.
Vada is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn Woods of Abilene three grandchildren, David Woods of Abilene, Wendy Hall and husband Greg of Ft. Worth, Brad Woods and wife Stacie of Keene, TX six great grandchildren, Jason Simpler, Stephanie Woods, Ashley Woods, Zachery Woods, Faith Woods, Nicholas Woods and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D.H. her parents and five sisters.
