Valentin Salazar Sr.

Valentin G Salazar Sr., 80, of Abilene, Texas passed away November 10, 2018.

Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday November 16, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday November 17, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with Matthew M. Lubin Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Services are under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.

Valentin was born in Rio Hondo, Texas to Guadalupe and Francisca Salazar on May 21, 1938. Valentin lived the majority of his life in South Texas with his 8 brothers and 4 sisters. The family moved to West Texas and Valentin married his soul mate, Angelita Almaguer at the age of 19 years old.
Valentin moved to Greely Colorado where he became a Deputy Sheriff, then a Truck Driver. He settled down in Abilene, Texas after having six children. He loved traveling, music, playing the drums and the accordion, Barbecuing, singing and many countless weekends with family and friends.

Valentin is proceeded in death by his parents and wife Angelita, son Albert Salazar Sr., grandson Christopher Salazar, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Valentin is survived by 3 daughters, Linda Tyree, Rachel Salazar and Josie Lockett, 2 Sons, Valentin Salazar, Jr. and Steve Salazar. 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 sister, 5 brothers and host of other family and friends.
