Van Miller 72 passed away in Abilene, Texas with his family by his side. Van was born January 29, 1949 in Oakland, California to Thomas Miller and Carrie Mae Thompson-Miller.
Visitation will be Monday, March 22, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Elmwood Funeral Home 5750 Hwy 277 South Abilene, Texas. Memorial Services will be Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery 7457 W Lake Road, Abilene, Texas with Full Military Honors. Memorial Service will be livestream via Facebook.

Van was raised in Berkeley and Oakland, California. He graduated from Berkeley High School, Berkeley, California in 1967. He also graduated of Abilene Christian University and University of Phoenix with a Master's degree. He was a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
Van was a member of First A.M.E. Church in Oakland, California.
He loved his sports as a player and coach. He coached with his father in Berkeley California in youth baseball sports. He loved his wife who was his best friend, he loved his children and grandkids. He was full of life and love his movies, vehicles and drink. But more than that, he loves his family even more than all of that.
But my father was also as he would say, R. F. T. W. which means "ready for the world". So, in conclusion, we will live on and carry the Miller name with pride and honor knowing, you taught us well and we are ready for the world, and we got momma.
Van first job was at Berkeley Lawrence Laboratory and he served 20+ years active in the military. After Van retired and he became employed with Deca and OTR Truck Driver. He travel around the world while he served in the military.
Van is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Miller and Carrie May Thompson- Miller; his sibling, Roijean Miller-Young and Jerry Thompson.
Van a beloved father and husband.
He is survived by his wife, Francine R. Miller; his children, Philandrew D. Miller Sr. (Refhima), Timothy C. Watson (Kim Hall), Van Weslee Miller (Angela); brothers, Thomas Ray Miller and Herb Miller ( Lee); grandchildren, Philandrew D. Miller Jr., Deavaughn Miller, Jakira Miller, Amara Miller, DeVaughn E. Watson, Van Weslee Miller Jr., Jordan Thomas Miller, Jakobe Austin Miller, Jacee Lochelle Miller; and a host of other relatives and friends.
