Vanes Dupree Thompson, 56 of Hawley passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in the Hawley Cemetery.
Van was born in Abilene, Texas on August 15, 1961 to Angelo June Thompson Jr. and Patti Jo Dupree. Van was a Hawley High School graduate and married his Jr. High School sweetheart, Regina Leuthauser Thompson in August of 2004. He was a long time employee of the Hawley water department before changing careers to become a truck driver. In addition to spending time with his family, Van enjoyed hunting, shooting guns and hanging out with his dog, Tank. He was a member of the Texas Roadrunners Car Club and enjoyed working on his hot rods with his son in law, Wesley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Angelo Thompson, his mother, Patti Davis; his maternal grandparents; his paternal grandparents; and his grandson, Hayden Strickland.
Van is survived by his loving wife, Reigina Leuthauser Thompson; children, Mindy and her husband Wesley, Brandon and his wife Anna, Kim and her husband Robert, Trey and his wife Carrie, and Vanesa; one sister, Angela Young; Grumps to 13 grandkids, J.T, Krista, Chevy, Dilyne, Roper, Kairi, Logan, Dakota, Tyler, Ashton, Emma, Ethan, Sydney, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
