Vennie Massey

Vennie Lee Lytle Massey, 78, passed away August 19, 2014, in Plano, Texas after a difficult illness. Visitation will be 6 til 8 PM, Friday, August 22, 2014 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Vennie was born March 28, 1936 in Hefner, TX. She married William E. Massey on April 15, 1961. Upon his passing on October 18, 2011, they had shared 50 wonderful years of marriage together. They had 2 daughters, Melody Kay Massey, and Denise Massey both of Plano, TX. Vennie worked for several years at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX in the Medical Records Department.

She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene, TX. She and friend Margaret had a ministry through the church where they dressed in crazy costumes and had a party for two nursing homes each month. Fun was had by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband William E. Massey and a brother Gerald Lytle of Midland, TX.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Melody Massey and her fiance, Michael Bombard and Denise Massey of Plano, TX.
Her daughters feel truly blessed by God to have had such a wonderful mom. She taught us courage, strength, laughter and kindness. Her smile would always light up the room. We would consider her to be the greatest mom ever. We will miss her until we are reunited with her one day in heaven.

Memorials can be made in her name to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
