Verda Wood

Verda Maurine Eoff Wood went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Friday July 3, 2009 in Fredericksburg, TX. Her funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Faith Baptist Church, 2300 South 20th Street. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Verda was born in Winters, TX on November 21, 1921 to William and Pearl Eoff. She married Vernon Wood on September 24, 1938. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Abilene, for over 50 years. Her passions were genealogy, quilting, and NASCAR. She met several NASCAR drivers, Mark Martin being her favorite driver.

After learning to use a personal computer in her 70's, she entered 7,062 records on 5,413 members of the Eoff family, as well as records for the Branham, Jones, Wood English and Wood Scottish families.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara Johnson of Fredericksburg; great-granddaughters, Carra and Lindsey Chabot of Bastrop; son, Phillip Wood of Dallas; grandson, Timothy Wood of Lubbock; granddaughter, Sarah Wood of Arkadelphia, AR.; brother, Pete Eoff of Winters; two sisters, Delphine Rogers of Granbury and Jeannie Knight of Winters; and a multitude of nieces and nephews of several generations. Her extended family was the center of her life. Until the end, she could remember their names and birthdates.
