Verma Mccowen

Verma Lee McCowen passed away on April 7, 2016. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 PM, Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, April 11, 2016 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Verma Lee was born August 23, 1930 to Sumna Olen Montgomery and Elvis (Barr) Montgomery. She graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1947. She married Burlie Paul McCowen on November 4, 1949. She later attended Angelo State University, graduating in 1984 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. She worked as an RN at Abilene State School, then MHMR until retirement. Verma Lee was a loving caregiver to not only her family, but also to her clients.

Survivors are her husband of over 66 years, Burlie Paul McCowen; daughter, Diane Pattison and husband Bruce; sons, David McCowen and wife, Janet; Bill McCowen and wife, Carie; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Verma Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her brother.
