Verna Marie Lane Garner, 90, was called home Saturday night, March 15, 2014. Her graveside funeral service, with Reverend David Cason officiating, will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Verna was born February 13, 1924 in Eldorado, TX. She was the daughter of Horace and Myrtle Jane Lane. She married Quincy Jack Garner at the age of 17 and remained faithful and full of love even after his passing in 2005. It was a great reunion in Heaven Saturday night. She was a realtor for many years. She was a member of Broadview Baptist Church. Above all she loved the Lord. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord at an early age and was baptized at Southside Baptist Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart and imparted that love with her family by helping them seek Jesus in their daily lives. She loved spending time with family, friends, and participating in Bible studies with her daughter, Brenda.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Wilma Lane Bever, two brothers, Marshall and Harold Lane, and her loving husband Jack Garner. Survivors include one son and daughterinlaw, Gary and Gail Garner, and one daughter and soninlaw, Brenda and Johnnie Boggs. She has 3 grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Chad Farley, Chris and his wife Dr. Erin Garner and Kimberly Garner. Adding to her joys were two greatgrandchildren, Callie Jack Farley and Ethan Jack Garner.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. James Wray, the staff at Wisteria Place and Hendrick Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers, please send your donations to Hendrick Hospice Care or Broadview Baptist Church.
