Verna Horrell

Verna Faye Horrell, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2009 in Abilene. Viewing and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday, January 19th at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. A graveside service where she will rest next to her beloved Bud, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday in the Mausoleum Garden at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Faye was born on September 19, 1921 in Clyde. She married Merritt Bud Horrell Sr. in 1941 and they were married 67 years before Bud went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2004. Faye was proud to have served as both the President and Secretary of VFW Post 2012. She lived in Georgia for several years after her husbands death and returned to Abilene in 2007 where she has been a resident of The Oaks at Radford Hills.

Survivors include five children, Billy and wife Kathy, Ronnie and wife Beth, Jimmy and wife Joye all of Abilene, Cissy and husband John Lee of Kerrville, and Bud Jr. and wife JoAnne of Kathleen, Georgia. Faye had 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
