Virginia Everheart

Beloved wife and mother, Charlene Everheart, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, in Abilene. She was 73 years old. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 837 Jeanette Street with burial following at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, August 26, 2010, from 6:00 7:00 PM with Prayer Service beginning at 7:00PM at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Charlene was born on April 27, 1937 in Sweetwater, TX, to Clovis and Lenora Callaway. She lived in Sweetwater throughout her childhood where she graduated from high school. She met and later married the love of her life, Bill, in December of 1955. Charlene graduated and obtained a teaching degree from McMurry University in Abilene. She was a school teacher for several years before going to work at The Abilene State School and eventually decided to stay at home as a homemaker. She was a loving and joyous person, always making someone laugh. She was a Cub Scout den mother and served in the prison ministry at the Taylor Country Jail. She was very active in church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She enjoyed playing the piano and always put her family first.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband Bill of Abilene her sons, Steve Everheart and wife Millie, and James Everheart her daughter, Carolyn Smith and husband Greg, all of Abilene. She had 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Building Fund at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
