Von Randall Harris passed away in Abilene, TX on April 22, 2023, after a hard- fought cancer battle. He was 63. Born second son of Von Weldon Harris and Lometa June (Young) Harris. He was a native Texan, Proud SF Eagle, and 1978 Graduate from Sanford-Fritch High School. He obtained a degree in Business Administration from Amber University; but he loved to speak of years spent at West Texas State University.
He was a long-time member of Resurrection Life Church and Christ as Life Christian Center serving as Worship Leader and in various areas of service.
Randall had an adventurous spirit expressed through a love of travel. His favorite place on earth was Grindelwald, Switzerland, which he visited several times. At the time of his death, he was planning to return to Switzerland one more time.
Randall had 3 careers during his life. He was a driver for the top executive of DSC Communications for many years, a job he loved. His favorite career was substituting teacher. He especially enjoyed teaching the lower grade levels, where the kids almost daily told him that he was their favorite teacher. But his final career was as a caregiver to his parents; a career in which he excelled.
Randall enjoyed meeting his "drinking buddies" for coffee and fellowship at McDonald's on many Friday mornings.
Randall was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved schnoodle dog, Cuddles. He is survived by his brother Weldon Richard (Sharon), his sister Rhonda Harris Smith, 3 nephews; Travis Smith (Yumiko), Aaron Smith (Jennifer) and Christopher Harris (Amanda). He is also survived by 2 nieces: Jennifer Sharp (Jeremy) and Amy Harris. Also surviving are great niece Stella Sharp and great nephews Ezra Sharp and Ethan Harris and a host of beloved extended family.
A graveside service will be held at Dobbs Valley Cemetery (map accessible by GPS), Mineral Wells, Texas on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 2 pm. A memorial service is planned for a future date in the Dallas Metroplex.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Houses for Healing or Hendricks Hospice Care, both located in Abilene, TX.
