Vondean Richards

Vondean Richards, 88, of Abilene passed away Sunday September 7, 2014 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held on Friday September 12 at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday September 11 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

Vondean was born on July 13, 1926 in Mills County, TX to the late William and Maggie Lucas. She married Billy Richards on May 20, 1946 and lived and worked in the Abilene area their entire life. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1997. Vondean worked for the Abilene Independent School system for many years and was a dedicated member of University Baptist Church.

Vondean is survived by 3 sons, Billy Richards of Abilene, Les Richards of Abilene and Don Richards of Los Angeles, CA numerous grandchildren nieces and nephews who were the love of her life.

Vondean was also preceded in death by brothers Weldon Lucas, Othel Lucas, Jimmy Lucas sisters, Carmen Wall, Cuba Coffman, Shirley Foster and Rosa Williams.
