Walter “Rooster” Edwards of Abilene Texas passed away July 24, 2020 at Hendrick Medical Center
Private Service for family will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020. Visitation, Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Burial will follow at Abilene City Cemetery, 1133 Cottonwood, Abilene, Texas in the Masonic Section.

Walter was born to Noble Edwards and Claudia Bruner in Seminole, Oklahoma, November 14th 1936.
Walter attended Booker T. Washington in Seminole, Oklahoma and later served in the United States Navy from 1954-1958.
Walter enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, sports, and spoiling his family.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, wife Johnnie Mae Edwards, his siblings, Leona Norman, Ollie Evans, Ora Lee Devereaux, LuJuanda Smith and David “Dude” Franklin Edwards, daughter Denise Edwards, Son Frank Thompson, great grandson Torrence Wall.
Walter is survived by Joyce Bedford (Andrew), Danny M. Cook, Ezell Lewis ( Mae), Deirdre Anderson (Raymond), David Edwards, Keisha Streeter-Clark, (Joseph), Maurice Dickinson, Marques Dickinson (Michelle), LeAnthony Edwards (Melissa), LaTonda Webb, Ola Ogunyale (Shabra), Walter Edwards Jr, Macaya Edwards, his longtime companion Pamels Swayzer, DeAndre Ely Hight, Alexis Willis, JaQuay Hights and Jakaya Knight, a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins
