Wanda Coats

Wanda June Coats, 79, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 in Abilene, Texas. A visitation will be 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in the Elmwood Funeral Home's Family Center, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM on Friday, September 16, 2022 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Wanda was born July 28, 1943 in Brownwood to Dennis and Stella Williams. She was raised in Abilene, Texas and graduated from Abilene High School. In Wanda's early years she enjoyed bowling, roller skating, and playing cards. Wanda worked for Timex and US Brass. She had a true servant heart and enjoyed caring for her sister Carolyn. Wanda worked in her yard up until a year ago when she no longer could. She would often say she loved the sun and it was her solar charge. Wanda raised her daughter as a single mother and did a fabulous job balancing motherhood. More than anything, Wanda loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her nieces, nephews, and especially her grandson Austin. She was the best Sister, Mother, and Nonnie to her family. Her love will be felt in our hearts forever. She was such a treasure.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Grady Alton Williams.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Kristy Leavenworth and husband Russell; her grandson, Austin Leavenworth; her step grandson, Brayden Leavenworth; three sisters, Trisha Pace, Patsy Shaddix, and Carolyn Williams; and her brother, Arlan Williams; long time neighbors, The Rangels; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
