Wanda Lee Hedrick, 82, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 7, 2019 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Wanda was born June 30, 1936 in Vancouver, Canada the daughter of Noble and Freda Martin. Wanda married the love of her life Homer Wayne Hedrick and became a military wife holding down the home while Homer served his country. The couple had six children and fostered many others during their marriage. When you were in Wanda's home you were one of her own. She enjoyed fishing, arts, crafts, bingo, gambling and riding with Homer in their antique cars in local parades. The couple were members of the Model A Club. Wanda was also an avid animal lover. Above all Wanda loved and cared for her family unconditionally.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Wayne Hedrick; her parents, one grandson, Chase Freiley; and one brother, Dick Martin.
Wanda is survived by her six children, Daniel Hedrick and wife Maria of Austin, David Hedrick and wife Terri of Abilene, Richard Hedrick and wife Angie of Riverside, Iowa, Curtis Hedrick of Abilene, Ruby Benoit and husband Steve of Dallas, and Rhonda Harendt and husband Jon of Abilene; Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Martin and wife Sue of Washington State; and special family, Brian and Joy Freiley.
