Wanda Kester

Wanda Kester, 85, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, 809 Floydada Street, Wellington, Texas, with a visitation time prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in North Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, Texas.

Wanda was born May 7, 1930 in Oakwood, Oklahoma to Willie Andrew and Jewell May Maddox Kester. Wanda was blessed with a second mother Sarah Pearce Kester after the death of Jewell May Maddox Kester. She was a strong woman, who became great in spite of difficulties. Wanda had a big heart, and always wanted to take care of others. She never met a stranger and was always quick to compliment others. Wanda loved her family, especially the children.

Wanda is survived by a brother, Darrell Kester; sisters Barbara Reynolds, Shirley Reynolds, Judy Thompson, Joyce Morrow, Mary Whitehead and Debra Lowery; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Abilene foster family, Bobby and Shelley Fanning, and their children Stacen, Calli, Shayne, Billie, Preston and Jayme, who lovingly referred to Wanda as "GiGi".

She was preceded in death by her mother Jewell May Maddox Kester and sister Renee and parents Willie Andrew Kester and Sarah Mildred Pearce Kester; brothers Johnny Kester, Fred Kester, L.D. Kester, Billy Kester, Joe Kester, Duane Kester, Jerry Don Kester and Clyde Kester; and sister Linda Kester.
