Wanda Jean Gage Seay, 81, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at her home in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM today, Tuesday, May 6 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. Her graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Faith, with an 11:00 AM memorial service following at Brookhollow Christian Church, 2310 S. Willis.
Wanda was born on April 19, 1927 in Anadarko, Oklahoma the daughter of Allen Benjamin Gage and Ruby Leona Miller Gage. After graduating from Fort Cobb High School, she worked as an evening operator for Bell Telephone Company. She married Warner B. Seay on January 11, 1947 and they moved to Abilene in 1949. Wanda went to work for AISD in 1955 starting at North Jr. She was the Registrar at Cooper High School from its opening until her retirement in 1981. After retirement she enjoyed traveling all over the United States and some foreign countries and was active as one of the first Office Managers of the Abilene Food Bank. Wanda was a member and past president of the Letter Carriers Auxiliary, Abilene Educational Secretaries Club, and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a Charter member of the Brookhollow Christian Church.
Wanda was a GREAT wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family, and she loved Cooper High School.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Warner B. Seay; her daughter, Jeannie Ann Seay Ellison of Abilene; two grandsons, Brandon Lee Ellison and wife Tracy and their daughter, Brittany Westmoreland of Abilene, and Bryon David Ellison and his wife, Brooke of Austin.
Her parents and 8 brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
