Warner Benny Seay, 85, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011 in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 8th in the Garden of Faith at Elmwood Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at Brook Hollow Christian Church, 2310 S. Willis. Visitation is from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Tuesday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Warner was born on October 19, 1925 in Anadarko, Oklahoma the son of Reuben Albert Seay and Montie Pearl Duncan Seay. He graduated from Anadarko High School where he was active in football, band and drama. Drafted his senior year in high school, he served in the Army, 89th Chemical Warfare during WWII. He married Wanda Jean Gage on January 11, 1947 and they followed the oil boom to Texas. They loved Texas and decided to stay making Abilene their home in 1949. He eventually went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where he worked as a Letter Carrier for over 25 years and was active with the Letter Carriers Association. Warner and Wanda were charter members of Brook Hollow Christian Church. After retirement, they helped establish and volunteered at the Food Bank of Abilene. He was a Mason.
Warner enjoyed fishing, building, yard work, and traveling in their RV. He was a great son, brother, soldier, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeannie Ann Seay Ellison of Abilene two grandsons, Brandon Lee Ellison and wife, Tracy and their daughter, Brittany Westmoreland of Abilene and Bryon David Ellison and wife Brooke and baby boy Ellison due to arrive in August and one brother, Eugene Seay of Duncan, Oklahoma.
His parents, a brother, Ralph Seay and his wife Wanda to whom he was a devoted husband for 62 years, preceded him in death.
