Wilbur Louis Gatts went to join the Lord in eternity on the morning of April 21st, 2010. Death has no sting nor does the grave hold any victory, thanks be to God who gave Wilbur the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Wilbur was 80 years young at his passing. He was born in Canton, Ohio to John and Hazel Gatts. He has 4 brothers, 2 of which have already passed on.
He was raised in Louisville, Ohio. He led a simple life growing up on a farm, but the farm was not to be his lot in life. He met Mary Langford at a YWCA dance and from the very first meeting she became his life. Wilbur found work in the steel industry and made a good life for his family which soon included 2 daughters, Bonnie and Donna whom he called Rooster and Dukes. Forty some years working with steel, eating baloney sandwiches, raising his family and devoting himself to his wife was exactly what Wilbur wished for his life and he was quite satisfied. He retired from the work force in 1987, and in August 2008, he and Mary moved to Texas to live with Donna and Chuck.
Wilbur was a member of the Louisville Masonic Lodge for 50 years. He achieved the position of 32nd Degree Mason during that time and was well respected by his Masonic Brothers. Mary and Wilbur were members of Canton Baptist Temple and were baptized there in 2004.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grand children, and 2 brothers.
