William Browning

William Lex Browning, 74, died on October 27, 2013 in Ft Worth. A graveside service with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick officiating will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 1st in the Garden of Remembrance at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 1:00 PM until service time at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Lex was born April 15, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to Frank Earnest Browning and Gladys Elizabeth Browning and graduated from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea with the 1st Cavalry Division. He married Jacqueline Butler at the Irwindell Methodist Church in Dallas on Sept. 9, 1960. After being honorably discharged from the Army he worked for Purex Bleach in Dallas and then went to work for Greyhound Bus Lines in Abilene as a driver from 1974 to 1994 where he retired. He then went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Guard and retired from the Middleton Unit in Abilene in 2002. He then worked for AFSCME Union Local 3963. He and Jackie were members of Zion Lutheran church in Abilene.

Lex was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jackie, an infant daughter, and one brother, Fred Owen Browning.

Survivors include his sister, Mary Virginia Covington of Van, Texas his daughters, Brenda Gale Bufkin and husband David and Sharon Lea Green and husband Roy all of Weatherford one grandson, David Tyler Bufkin, three granddaughters, Lexi Briann Bufkin, Jacqueline Taylor Green, Sarah Makenzie Green three step grandchildren, Clifton Bufkin of Ranger, Nicole Koehler and Kimberly Green of Houston three great grandchildren, Kynzlee Bufkin, Padun Bufkin and Case Bufkin who were all his pride and joy
