William Herring

William “Bill” Herring lost his battle to cancer after a strong and courageous fight on Tuesday May 24, 2022. He was at home surrounding by his loving family. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Friday May 27, 2022, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 28, 2022, at 2:00pm in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Bill was born in Abilene, Texas on March 4, 1963, to Julian and Billie Ann Herring. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1981. At a young age he began to help is father at Callaway Carpet and then eventually becoming the proud owner for over 30 years, loving his job and working hard for his store. Bill married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Jamie Lynn Stanaford in 1978. He loved the Lord and was a member of United Methodist Church.

Bill enjoyed being with his family, fishing, hunting, golfing, and relaxing outside by his pool with a cold beer. He was selfless and would help anyone in need. Bill has “Gone Fishing”, but his legacy will carry on for generations to come.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jamie Lynn Herring; his sons, Cory Bryan Herring and wife Stacy, Casey Garrett Herring and wife Whitney; two grandsons, Bryan Hagen Herring and Link William Herring; one brother, David Shepard Herring and wife Ellen; two nephews, Trevor Empting Herring and wife Ashley, Eric Zachary Herring and wife Rachel; and two great nieces, Sophie Herring, and Marcie Herring.
