William Massey

William E. Massey Ed, born October 9, 1927 passed away on October 18, 2011 and went to heaven to be with his precious Lord and Savior. Born in Granbury, Texas, to parents W.R. Massey and Lottie Terrell Massey, he grew up in the Mansfield, TX area and served in the United States Army during WWII. He married his wife Vennie Lytle Massey on April 15, 1961. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone with more than 30 years with the company. Ed loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, he liked VW Bugs and enjoyed his extensive clock collection. Ed was a very reserved and quiet man, but in his last few years came to love singing Karaoke, his favorite songs to sing were the old hymns Blessed Assurance and When The Roll is Called Up Yonder. Those are just things that he enjoyed, but that is not who Ed was as a man, he was a great provider for his family, he was a loving husband, and a daddy that was adored by his daughters. He was kind, gentle, sweet, loving man who loved the Lord. His two daughters can never express their gratitude for his love and support of them all his years and the great role model he was to them both. The Lord blessed this family with the greatest daddy and husband there ever could have been. Ed was preceded in death by his parents W.R. Lottie Massey two of his brothers, Raymond Massey and Wayne Red Massey. He is survived by his wife Vennie Massey of Plano, Texas daughter Melody Massey of Plano, Texas daughter Denise Massey of Plano, TX brother Clarence Massey of San Antonio, Texas.
The funeral will be held at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene, Texas on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 2pm and will be officiated by Rev. Belinda Blessen.
