William Parks

William Bruce Bill Parks, 60, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at his home in Abilene. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 24th at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 PM with Rosary service beginning at 7 PM, Thursday, October 23 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Bill was born on November 15, 1947 in Abilene. He graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended McMurry College. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and after serving two tours in Vietnam, he received numerous medals and awards for his honorable service to our country. Bill liked music and sports, especially football, and he enjoyed taking pictures.

Survivors include his father, Billie Bruce Parks of Abilene; his sister, Mary Anne Light and husband Glenn Michael of San Antonio; three brothers, Michael Jackson Parks and wife Shirley of Moore Park, California, Gregory Lewis Parks and fianc Pumari Nelson of Abilene, and James David Parks and wife Peggy of Panama City, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

His mother, Valta Jean Smith Parks, preceded him in death in 1965.
