William Spaunhorst

William Francis Spaunhorst, 89, passed away on Wednesday April 9, 2025, in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 16, 2025, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Interment will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas.

William was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on November 14, 1935, to his parents Francis and Helen Spaunhorst. He served in the Air Force and retired after serving 20 years. He was a devoted husband to his wife Joan whom he married on February 4, 1961, in Selz, North Dakota, they shared 64 years of marriage together. William was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; he was a praying man. He was a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Spaunhorst; his son, Scott Spaunhorst; his daughter, Janet Williams and husband James; his daughter, Lorna Carter and husband Russell; his sister, Ann Bruegging and her family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Francis William Spaunhorst; and his mother, Helen Spaunhorst.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
