William E. Bill Thompson

William E. bill Thompson, age 83, died on August 5, 2010 after an extended illness. Bill was born January 7, 1927, in Abilene, and was the son of Newel and Bobbie Herndon Thompson.

Bill graduated from Abilene High in 1944. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II, stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. He attended Hardin Simmons and Abilene Christian University.

For more than 40 years, Bill worked with his father in the Newel Thompson Real Estate Office. Bill was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents an aunt, Mrs. Ed Willie Kniffen and a niece, Kim Gillham.

Bill is survived by one brother, Bob and wife Rosalie Thompson of Dallas one niece, Kristie Thompson one greatniece, Katie Lyn McSween two greatnephews Scott Newel Croix and Paul David Gillham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Meals on Wheels, 949 Mesquite St., Abilene, TX 79601.

Graveside funeral service will be held at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South, at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 9, 2010, under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.
