Willie Lockett Jr., 88, of Abilene has gone home to be with the Lord Monday, August 14th, 2017at his residence. A home going celebration will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 608 North 7th Street, Abilene, Tx. Burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be 5:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 18th, 2017 at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Willie was born March 20, 1929, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Willie Lockett Sr. and Diamond Young and raised by stepmother Emma Swanson.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies were watching sports, wrestling and westerns. Willie was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He worked as a chef for the majority of his life; He loved dressing in his suits. He was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church until his health prevented him from doing otherwise.
He was a strong man who believed in family values and always believed in caring for his family and others around him. He loved being with family.
Mr. Lockett is preceded in death by his parents, several sisters and brothers.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ann Lockett, of Abilene, Sons, Willie Edward Lockett (Henrietta) of Wichita Falls, Tx, Mack Lockett (Ann) of Seattle Washington, Tony Lockett ( Sonji Crittenton) of Grand Prairie, Tx., William Connelly of Grand Prairie, Tx., Jackie Ray Lockett and Jammie Lockett (Josie) of Arlington, Tx., Daughter, Jacqueline Kay Lockett of Wichita Falls, Tx., 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren. Sisters, Gladys Lockett, Adrine Young and Nana Armstrong. Niece, Connie Pettigrew, Nephews, Nathaniel Reginal Booker and Joseph Booker, Friend Marjorie Hutchinson and Best Friend Leonard Phillips.
