W.L. (Dub) Stem, Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023. He was born and raised in Wylie, Texas, and lived a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
After graduating from Wylie High School in 1947, Dub pursued higher education at Tarleton State College in Stephenville, Texas. However, in 1950, he selflessly volunteered for the Air Force and was deployed to Korea, where he served his country with honor and bravery. During a leave of absence in 1952, he married the love of his life, Geneva Joe Brown. Following their marriage, Dub returned to duty and continued to fulfill his military responsibilities until his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1953.
Upon completing his military service, Dub settled in Stamford, Texas, where he embarked on a successful career. He joined West Texas Utilities, working in both Stamford and McCamey, contributing his skills and dedication to the company. In 1963, he transitioned to Rexall Chemical Company in Odessa, Texas, where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his career, Dub witnessed changes in ownership, adapting to new challenges and opportunities.
In 2004, Dub and Joe relocated to the Tomball/Magnolia area in southeast Texas, desiring to be closer to their children and grandchildren. During his leisure time, Dub found solace in fishing and enjoyed spending time at their lake retreat in Brownwood. He also delighted in RV adventures with a close-knit group of friends, creating lasting memories and fostering lifelong friendships.
Dub was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Geneva Joe Stem, with whom he shared 66 beautiful years of marriage. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will be forever cherished. Dub is survived by his son, Steve Stem, residing in Cypress, Texas, his daughter, Belinda Rambo, residing in La Marque, Texas, and his adoring grandchildren, Colton Rambo and his partner Faith Gantz, residing in Denton, Texas, Clayton Rambo, residing in La Marque, Texas, and Sierra Rambo, residing in Everett, Washington.
Dub Stem will be remembered for his kind-hearted nature, unwavering devotion to family, and his infectious sense of humor. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A visitation will be 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, on Monday, June 12, 2023 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will be 11:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home, on Monday, June 12, 2023 to celebrate the remarkable life of Dub Stem. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
