Woodrow Clemmer

Lt. Col. Ret. Woodrow Walter Clemmer, 94, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 in Abilene. Visitation will be 6 PM till 8 PM, Monday, April 29, 2013 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A private graveside service will be held later.
Woodrow or W.W. as friends called him was born October 18, 1918 in Fort Worth, TX to Ardie Walter and Zella Spencer Clemmer. The family relocated to a farm in the Big Country and he graduated from Noodle Dome High School before attending Abilene Christian College. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps in 1940. In 1941 he met and married the love of his life Josephine Winter. They lived in many places while serving in the Air Force including Alaska, California, Louisiana, Bermuda, and Massachusetts. His service also included being a part of the Inspector Generals staff while on tour in the Middle East. Woodrow served our country faithfully until his retirement as Lieutenant Colonel in 1963 after more than 23 years of service. After returning to Abilene he started the CASE Equipment Company of Abilene in 1967 where he was an active part of the business for more than 25 years. He served as a member of the Abilene Planning and Zoning Commission. He and Jo loved to travel the country in their motor home especially spending the winters in the Rio Grande Valley Square and Round dancing. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be missed dearly by each of them.
Woodrow is survived by, his wife of 72 years, Josephine daughter, Becky Jo Roberts and husband Randy of Abilene son, Don Jeffery Clemmer and wife Nancy of Austin four grandchildren, Matt Roberts and wife Rachele, Mark Roberts and fianc Jessica Motl, Kelly Clemmer and fianc Adham Bissar, John Clemmer three great grandchildren, Madelyn, Olivia, Austin one brother, Harroll Clemmer of San Angelo one sister, Bootsie Conley of Abilene several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made in Woodrows honor to your favorite charity.
