Woodrow Shaddix

October 18, 1946 — August 27, 2023

In Loving Memory of Woodrow Marshall Shaddix Jr.

With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of a remarkable man, Woodrow Marshall Shaddix Jr., on August 27, 2023. Born in Abilene, TX on October 18, 1946, Woodrow was the beloved son of Woodrow Sr. and Irene Shaddix. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to family.

Woodrow's journey through life was marked by his pursuit of knowledge and personal growth. After attending Abilene High School, he continued his education at Cisco Jr College and married Patsy Gayle Williams on January 29, 1965. His sense of duty and patriotism led him to serve his country in the US Navy Reserves, a testament to his willingness to contribute to something larger than himself.

A man of remarkable industriousness, Woodrow took the reins of Shaddix Implement Company from his parents and managed the business with tireless dedication for over two decades. His hard work, resilience, and commitment to excellence were apparent in every project and customer he served.

Beyond his professional life, Woodrow was a man of many passions. His adventurous spirit led him to the skies, as he pursued his love for flying both as a licensed pilot and through his fascination with RC planes. On the open road, he found solace riding motorcycles, embracing the freedom of the wind against his face. His creative talents were evident in his mastery of carpentry, where he could transform raw materials into works of art. And in the heart of his home, the kitchen, he delighted in cooking food that brought his family together.

Yet, amidst all his accomplishments, Woodrow's greatest joy was his family. He was a man whose love knew no bounds, a husband to the love of his life for over fifty-eight years; a father whose guidance and support shaped the lives of his children, his daughter, Cassie Stevens and her husband Todd and his son, Douglas Shaddix. His devotion to his five grandchildren, Richard Krause, Mason Krause, Megan Krause, Andrew Dempsey, and Haliey Shaddix, was unwavering. As the family continued to grow, his love extended to his eight great-grandchildren-Kye, Harlee Evans, Noah, Christopher, Paisleigh, Averly, Ivy, Octavia, and Amelia; he also is survived by one sister, Glenda Carr.

Woodrow Marshall Shaddix Jr. was more than the sum of his achievements; he was a beacon of simplicity, humility, and love. He lived a life that touched the hearts of many and left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know him.
